Passes for membership tiers and shops
You don't have to give every customer the same wallet pass. Keep a default pass for everyone, and add passes with their own design for a specific membership tier, a specific shop, or both. VIP members can carry a differently branded card, and if you run several shops, each one can have a pass in its own language and look.
How multiple passes work
Two settings at the top of the pass editor decide who a pass is made for:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Membership | Leave it as Default for the pass every customer can get. Pick a membership tier to make a pass for members of that tier. |
| Shop | Leave it as All shops, or pick one shop. This field appears when you run more than one shop. |
Combining them gives you these kinds of passes:
| Pass | Who it is made for |
|---|---|
| Default pass (Default + All shops) | Everyone. |
| Tier pass | Members of the selected tier. |
| Shop pass | Customers of the selected shop. |
| Tier and shop pass | Members of the selected tier at the selected shop. |
Each pass also has a Status. Set it to Active when the pass is ready for customers, and keep it as Draft while you work on the design.
Create a pass for a membership tier
- Open Wallet Passes and click New. If you have no passes yet, click Create new pass.
- In Membership, pick the tier. Type to search if you have many tiers.
- Design the card. The new pass starts from the design of your most recent default pass, so you only change what should look different for this tier.
- Optional: show the tier name on the card. Once a tier is selected, Header type, Secondary Field 1, and Secondary Field 2 offer an extra option, Membership, which shows the customer's tier name.
- Set Status to Active when the pass is ready for customers.
- Click Save in the bar at the top.
After you save a new pass, Toki opens it in the editor so you can keep working on it.
Create a pass for one shop
If you run more than one shop, the pass editor shows a Shop field.
- Open Wallet Passes and click New.
- In Shop, pick the shop.
- Leave Membership as Default for a pass every customer of that shop can get, or pick a tier as well to make a pass for that tier's members at that shop.
- Design the card. For example, write the Title, custom fields, and back fields in the shop's language.
- Set Status to Active and click Save.
Find your passes
Open Wallet Passes. Passes are grouped under Active Passes and Draft Passes. Each card shows:
- A small preview of the pass.
- Its name: the membership tier it is made for, or Default.
- The shop it is made for, or All shops.
- An Active badge on active passes.
Default passes come first, then tier passes in the order of your membership tiers. Click Edit on a card to open it.
Change a pass's tier or shop
- Open Wallet Passes and click Edit on the pass.
- Change Membership or Shop. Clear Membership to turn the pass into a default pass. Clear Shop to use it for all shops.
- Click Save.
Toki then refreshes the passes already installed on customers' phones.
If a membership tier is deleted
When you delete a membership tier that has its own pass, the pass stays on the Wallet Passes page with the name Membership deleted. Open it and pick another tier in Membership, or click Delete in the top-right corner and confirm to remove the pass.
