Membership rewards
Rewards are the benefits customers get while they hold a membership — the reason to join in the first place. Every membership, free tier or paid, carries its own list of rewards, and you can stack several perks on a single membership.
Add a reward to a membership
- Open Loyalty in the left navigation.
- Scroll to the VIP Tiers section and click the membership you want to edit (or click Add new tier to create one).
- In the Rewards card, click Add Reward.
- A new reward starts as Free shipping. Change its Type if you want a different perk.
- Fill in the reward's settings, then click Save.
Every membership needs at least one reward. If the list is empty when you save, a banner asks you to click Add Reward first.
Reward types
| Type | What members get |
|---|---|
| Free shipping | Free shipping for the customer. This is the starting type for every new membership reward. |
| Fixed amount of points | A set amount of points or store credit. If your store has more than one store credit, pick which one to award in the Store credit field. |
| Based on spend | Points or store credit for every $1 spent on a purchase. Available on paid memberships. |
| Free gift | A free product. Pick the products in the Product Variant field — a free gift can include up to 100 product variants. |
| Discount code | A discount for the customer. Choose Absolute (a fixed amount off), Percentage, or Buy X Get Y. There's also a Dynamic option for advanced setups — chat with us and we'll set it up with you. |
| Collectible | A collectible item. Give it a name and upload an image. |
| Gated Access | Access to content that's locked for everyone else. Gate Pages or Collections. |
| Multiplier Votes | Multiplies the customer's votes. Pick the Multiplier Rate. |
| Accelerator | Boosts what members earn from earning activities. Pick the Accelerator Rate and the Activities it applies to. |
| Custom | A perk you define yourself. Mark it as redeemable if members should be able to redeem it, and set a message to show after redemption. |
| Tremendous | A Tremendous reward. This type appears when the Tremendous integration is installed. |
Membership rewards use the same reward setup you see elsewhere in Toki, so if you've built rewards for earning activities, this will feel familiar. See Reward types for more detail on how each type works.
Add, reorder, or remove rewards
A membership can carry as many rewards as you like — click Add Reward for each one.
When a membership has more than one reward, each reward shows extra buttons at the bottom:
- Move up / Move down — change the order of the rewards.
- Remove this reward — take the reward off the membership.
Fine-tune each reward
Every reward has a collapsible section with more customization settings. What you see depends on the reward type, but these are the common options:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The reward's name. Leave it blank and a name is generated automatically. |
| Customize button | Customizes the button shown with the perk in the wallet. Set the Button text and a URL — leave the URL blank to use the default action. |
| One-Time Reward | When enabled, the reward applies once per customer. When disabled, it applies every time the customer meets the criteria. |
| Delay reward availability | Members can use the reward only after a set time since entering the membership. Choose the delay in days, months, or years, and optionally add Tracking: tags that apply when the reward becomes available. |
| Visibility Settings | Who sees this reward: All users, Segments (only customers in the segments you select), or No one. |
| Require paid membership add-on | On paid memberships, limits the perk to members who have one of the add-ons you select. |
Discount-type rewards also let you set how many times each customer — and all customers in total — can use the discount, and fixed-amount rewards can add a Reward Delay before the points arrive.
