Subscription box
The subscription box turns a paid membership into a recurring product box. Each billing cycle, members receive the included products you've scheduled — free for that cycle. They can swap those products for items from collections you choose, and add paid products from your catalog to their next renewal.
Turn on the subscription box
- Open Loyalty in the left navigation.
- In the VIP Tiers section, click your paid membership.
- Select the Subscription box tab.
- Turn on the Subscription box checkbox.
- Set up the schedule and options below, then click Save.
Box settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Included products per box | How many included products a member selects for each renewal. Choose from 1 to 50. |
| Swap collections | Shopify collections members can swap from. A member can trade an included product for any active variant in a selected collection. Add up to 50 collections. |
Exclusive product schedule
The schedule decides which included products are active over time. Each entry starts at a date you set and stays active until the next entry begins. Included products are free for the billing cycle in which their entry is active.
To build the schedule, click Add schedule entry and fill in each row:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Starts at | The date and time this entry's products become active. Times use the time zone shown next to the field. |
| Exclusive product variants | The included products for this entry. Pick 1 to 50 variants, each only once per entry. |
| Billing at | The renewal charge date for this entry. Appears when scheduled billing is on (see below). |
A few rules keep the schedule valid:
- Each entry needs its own Starts at — no two entries can share a start time.
- Each entry must include at least as many variants as your Included products per box number, so every member can fill their box.
- Give back-to-back entries different products — consecutive entries can't repeat the same variant.
Click the trash icon on a row to remove a schedule entry.
Scheduled billing
By default, renewals follow the membership's billing frequency. Turn on Use scheduled subscription box billing to charge each renewal at the Billing at date on your schedule entries instead.
To use scheduled billing, set the membership up with exactly one recurring frequency (Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually) and turn off its trial. While scheduled billing is on:
- The other frequency options stay locked, so the schedule has one clear billing plan.
- Align Billing to First of Month turns off — your schedule controls the billing dates.
- Every schedule entry needs a Billing at date.
Each Billing at date must fall after its own entry's Starts at and before the next entry's Starts at, and no two entries can share a billing time.
Paid products from the wallet
Members can also add paid products to their next renewal from their wallet, choosing from your full product catalog. Those products are charged with the renewal.
