About Toki

What is Toki?

#

Toki is a loyalty and rewards app for Shopify brands. One program covers points, VIP tiers, cashback and store credit, referrals, paid memberships, gift cards, reviews and Apple and Google Wallet passes, and it runs on your storefront, in Shopify customer accounts and checkout, and at Shopify POS.

The point is repeat purchases: ANOTHERSOLE's paid members repeat at 87.8%, against 12.4% for non-members, and GOAT runs one program across nine stores. See every feature or the docs overview.

Who is Toki for?

#

Shopify brands that want customers to come back, from stores on the free plan to groups with several storefronts and retail locations. Toki works with every Shopify plan, Shopify Plus included.

Our case studies cover footwear, candy, body care, apparel, food and beverage, and high-volume retail.

Is Toki a Shopify app?

#

Yes. You install Toki from the Shopify App Store, where it's rated 4.9 from 97 reviews, and you run it from your Shopify admin. Toki carries the Built for Shopify badge, which Shopify gives apps that meet its strictest quality, performance and privacy requirements.

Not on Shopify? See headless and non-Shopify stores.

How is Toki different from Smile.io, LoyaltyLion or Yotpo?

#

Mostly in what you get before you pay, and in what the first paid plan includes. Toki is free up to 1,000 orders a month; on their App Store pages in September 2026, Smile.io's free plan stopped at 200 orders, LoyaltyLion's at 400 and Yotpo Loyalty's below 100. Toki's paid plans start at $49/month and already include paid memberships, Apple and Google Wallet passes and one program across several stores.

The Shopify loyalty app comparison lists each app's limits and entry price, and the loyalty platform guide covers what each is best at.

Pricing and plans

How much does Toki cost?

#

Nothing up to 1,000 orders a month. Pay as you Go costs $49/month, Growth $299 and Power $599, with 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 orders included, and every order beyond a plan's volume adds $0.15. Paid plans come with one 14-day free trial, counted from your first subscription, and stores above 5,000 orders a month can ask for Enterprise pricing.

Pricing compares the plans feature by feature and explains billing.

What's included in the free plan?

#

Everything a complete program needs:

Paid plans unlock the rest: Apple and Google Wallet passes, workflows, paid memberships, gift cards, communities, reviews, quizzes and surveys, one program across several stores, checkout blocks, members-only pages and post-purchase pop-ups.

Setup and compatibility

How long does it take to set up Toki?

#

Installing takes a few minutes: add Toki from the Shopify App Store, switch on the Toki Wallet app embed in your theme editor, and your store shows the loyalty launcher. There's no code to write. Then you choose how customers earn and spend, design the hub and launch, adding tiers, referrals or memberships whenever you're ready.

Paid plans include free onboarding sessions, Growth adds migration support and Power white-glove migration. Start with Installing Toki.

Does Toki work with my Shopify theme and plan?

#

Yes. Toki works with every Shopify plan, Shopify Plus included, and with any Online Store 2.0 theme. The launcher is a theme app embed and the page modules are app blocks, so setup doesn't touch your theme code, and uninstalling Toki removes its storefront code automatically.

Colors, labels, images and the launcher are settings, and custom CSS covers the rest: see the Design editor.

Does Toki affect my store's speed?

#

Toki is built to stay out of your page's way. The widget starts after your page content has loaded, fetches only the blocks you've put in it, and pulls in its sign-in screen only when a customer needs it. Toki also holds the Built for Shopify badge, which requires meeting Shopify's storefront performance benchmarks.

Can customers earn and redeem in store?

#

Yes, on every plan, including Free. Staff open the Toki tile in Shopify POS to look up a member, see their balance, tier progress and expiring points, and redeem a reward at the register. Points earned in store land in the same balance as points earned online.

On paid plans, a member's Apple or Google Wallet pass doubles as their loyalty card at the counter, and staff can sell paid memberships and gift cards. Running Heartland, Pickware or PredictSpring instead of Shopify POS? Toki integrates with those too. More on POS loyalty.

Does Toki work in Shopify checkout and customer accounts?

#

Yes, with two conditions for checkout. Toki's checkout blocks, for spending points or store credit, claiming free gifts and offering a paid membership, need a paid Toki plan, and Shopify only allows app blocks in the checkout steps on Shopify Plus. In Shopify customer accounts, Toki adds blocks of its own, such as Your Status. Install modules on your storefront shows where each block goes.

Can I use Toki on a headless store or outside Shopify?

#

Yes. Toki doesn't need a Shopify theme: on a headless storefront or another platform, most modules, the Customer Hub included, go in as an HTML snippet, and WooCommerce stores sign customers in to the hub automatically. For anything custom, the Toki API and webhooks connect Toki to your own systems. Chat with us and we'll help you set it up.

We run several Shopify stores. Can they share one program?

#

Yes, on paid plans. One Toki program can span several Shopify stores, so a customer collects and spends the same points in each of them and keeps one profile. Toki gift cards work in every connected store, and analytics show each store on its own or all of them together. GOAT runs one program across nine candy stores. See multi-store loyalty.

Does Toki support other languages and Shopify Markets?

#

Toki's storefront modules come in 22 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Romanian, Polish, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Portuguese, Catalan, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Croatian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Latvian and Hungarian, and you can rewrite any wording on the Translations page. Growth and Power include any storefront language, including multi-language storefronts where each visitor sees their browser's language or the language of the page they're on.

With Shopify Markets, you can limit purchase reward rules and redemption options to specific markets, and set a Shopify store credit reward in any currency your store accepts. See Storefront language.

Does Toki work with Shopify Sidekick?

#

Yes. Sidekick, the AI assistant in your Shopify admin, can set up parts of your program from a sentence: it opens Toki's editor for a reward, a segment or a custom block with the fields filled in, and leaves the final Save to you. It also answers questions about your program, such as how many active paid members you have. There's nothing to switch on. See Shopify Sidekick.

Building your program

What kind of loyalty program can I build with Toki?

#

Most programs start with points: customers earn them in 50+ ways, from purchases to creating an account, following you on social media or writing a review, and spend them on discounts, free products, free shipping or store credit. On top of that you can add:

  • VIP tiers that unlock better perks as customers spend, order or earn
  • Cashback on every order, spendable as Shopify store credit
  • A referral program that rewards both sides
  • Paid memberships, your own version of Amazon Prime (paid plans)
  • Gamification: challenges, leaderboards, spin the wheel and prize draws (some parts need a paid plan)

You can run several at once, for example spendable points alongside a paid membership.

Can my loyalty card live in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet?

#

Yes, on paid plans. Every member gets a pass with your branding, their live balance and tier (or a punch card) and a QR code staff can scan at the register. The pass updates on its own as members earn and spend, you can send push notifications to it, and on Apple Wallet it can show a lock-screen message when a member is near one of your stores. Customers add it in one tap, with no app to download. See wallet passes.

How do referrals work, and how do you stop abuse?

#

Each member has their own link and code to share. A friend who uses it gets your discount on their order (you can limit it to first-time buyers), and once the order is linked to the referrer, the referrer earns the reward you choose, from points or store credit to a free gift. You can also pay your best referrers like affiliates.

Self-referrals are blocked twice: when the link is opened, a signed-in referrer gets no discount and, if you turn on the IP check, neither do visitors on the referrer's network; when the order arrives, there's no reward if the buyer's email matches the referrer's. Each code from a link works once and expires within a day. See referral rewards.

Can I automate the program?

#

Yes. Campaigns send emails and in-wallet messages, plus push notifications to wallet passes on paid plans, either on a schedule or when a customer does something, such as earning points or unlocking a tier. On paid plans, workflows go further: pick one of more than 40 events to start from, branch on conditions, then let Toki email the customer, push to their wallet pass, adjust their points or issue a gift card. Toki also feeds its events to your email and SMS tools, so you can build flows there.

How do I measure what the program earns?

#

Analytics are included on every plan, including Free: the revenue Toki drives, repeat purchase rate, purchase frequency, lifetime value, tier movement, paid membership revenue and referrals. Compare periods, focus on a segment and split in-store orders from online ones. More than 20 reports are ready to download, and any period exports to CSV. See analytics.

Integrations and data

Which apps does Toki integrate with?

#

25+ tools, most of them connected from the Integrations page in Toki:

Inside Shopify, Toki works with POS, checkout, customer accounts, Flow, Markets and Sidekick. See all integrations.

How does Toki work with Klaviyo?

#

Toki sends Klaviyo an event each time something happens in your program, such as points earned or spent, a redemption or a tier unlocked, and keeps each member's profile properties current: points balance, points about to expire, current and next tier, referral link and wallet pass links. Klaviyo sign-up forms can earn rewards, and coupon codes Klaviyo assigns appear in the customer's Toki wallet.

Attentive, Omnisend and Sendlane get the same events and properties; Postscript gets the events, and a core set of properties, for its existing subscribers. See Klaviyo and the events reference.

Is there an API?

#

Yes. Generate a Toki API key on the Integrations page, and your developer can build custom connections with the Toki API (chat with us for the reference) and subscribe to webhooks: points transactions, tiers earned or lost, and paid memberships started, renewed, changed or cancelled. Every delivery is signed, goes to HTTPS endpoints only, and is retried if it doesn't arrive. See Webhooks.

How do we move from Smile.io, LoyaltyLion or Yotpo?

#

Export your members from the old app, copy them into Toki's CSV template and upload it. Email and points balance are required; names, birthdays, join date and Shopify customer ID are optional. Each balance is converted by what it was worth in your old program: if 50 points equaled $1 there and 100 points equal $1 in Toki, a balance of 500 becomes 1,000 Toki points. Your Shopify customer list isn't touched. On paid plans, reviews come over from a Yotpo, Judge.me, Stamped.io or Klaviyo export.

You can run the import yourself on any plan. Want a hand? Migration support comes with Growth, and Power adds white-glove migration. See Import members.

How does Toki handle customer data?

#

Toki doesn't sell personal information, and it protects data with encryption and access controls. As a Built for Shopify app, it meets Shopify's privacy requirements. Members' email and SMS marketing preferences sync with Shopify, and requests for a copy of personal data go to support@buildwithtoki.com. Read the privacy policy.

Account and support

How do I log in to Toki?

#

Open your Shopify admin, then Apps, then Toki. The same merchant portal is at manage.buildwithtoki.com.

To give teammates access, invite them from Settings, then Team. Each invite carries a role that decides which areas they can view and change, and the email includes a sign-in link that works for 2 days. See Team members and roles.

How do I contact Toki support?

#

Chat with us from the Toki app or from the chat on this site, and a person answers. You can also email support@buildwithtoki.com. Growth adds dedicated support, and Power a dedicated account manager.

For shoppers

I shop at a store that uses Toki. How do I check my points?

#

Open the store's rewards launcher, usually a button in a corner of its website, and sign in. Your balance, tier, rewards and coupons are all there, along with your orders and ways to earn more. If the store offers a wallet pass, your balance also shows in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Each store runs its own program, so for questions about your points, contact the store.

How do I redeem my rewards?

#

In the store's rewards panel, choose a reward and redeem it. Discounts arrive as a code you can apply in one tap at checkout, store credit goes straight to your account, and some stores let you spend points in checkout or at the register. What you can redeem, and for how many points, is up to each store.

Do my points expire?

#

That depends on the store: each store decides whether its points expire, and when. A store can show your next expiry date on its wallet pass, and its staff can see points about to expire at the register. For your exact dates, ask the store.

Can I keep a store's loyalty card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?

#

If the store offers wallet passes, yes. Once you've joined its program, add your pass in one tap from the store's rewards panel, from an email or text it sends you, or at the counter. The pass shows your live balance and updates by itself, and there's no app to download.
