Redemption options
Redemption options are what customers spend their points or store credit on. Each option pairs a price — the amount of balance to spend — with a reward, like a discount code or a free gift. You can create as many options as you like, each with its own audience, sales channels, limits, and schedule. On the Loyalty page they're listed as redemption rules — same thing.
Create a redemption option
- In the Toki merchant portal, open Loyalty.
- Scroll to the Redemption rules settings section and click Add new rule. This opens the Manage Redemption Options page.
- Set the price, the reward, and any restrictions (see the sections below).
- Click Save.
Price and audience
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Amount to spend | The number of points (or amount of store credit) the customer pays for this reward. |
| Segment | Show this option only to customers in the segment you pick. Leave it on For everyone to offer it to all customers. |
Segments let you run different redemption deals for different groups — for example, a richer discount for VIPs. Create one option per segment.
Choose the reward
Pick a Type to decide what the customer gets:
| Type | What the customer gets |
|---|---|
| Free shipping | A free shipping code. You can exclude shipping rates over an amount you set, require a Minimum purchase amount, and restrict free shipping to specific Countries. |
| Free gift | A free product. You can include up to 100 product variants in one gift. |
| Discount code | A discount code — see the settings below. |
| Collectible | A collectible with a name and an image of your choice. |
| Custom | Anything you want to offer. Write the Message after redemption customers see once they redeem. |
| Tremendous | A gift card sent through the Tremendous integration. This type appears once Tremendous is set up on your store. |
Discount code settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type | Absolute (a fixed amount off), Percentage, Buy X Get Y, or Dynamic. Dynamic discounts calculate the amount from your own logic — chat with us and we'll set it up with you. |
| Amount | The value of the discount. |
| Minimum purchase requirements | Require a Minimum purchase amount or a Minimum quantity of items before the code applies, or choose No minimum requirements. |
| Code prefix | Text each generated code starts with, so your codes are easy to recognize. |
| Create discount immediately | Creates the discount code right away when the reward is created. |
| Expiration type | Unlimited (never expires), Relative (expires a set time after the code is created), Absolute (a specific date and time), or End of period (end of the week, month, or year). |
| Collections | Limit the discount to specific collections. Leave blank to apply it to all products. |
| Custom discount combination settings | Choose whether the code can combine with product, order, and shipping discounts. |
| Purchase type | Choose whether the code applies to one-time purchases or subscriptions. |
Free shipping and free gift rewards share several of these settings, including the code prefix, expiration, and combination settings.
Channel availability
By default, a redemption option is shown everywhere. To narrow that down, turn on Customize channel availability:
- Storefront and POS — choose where the option can be redeemed. At least one channel always stays selected.
- Storefront markets — when Storefront is selected, you can show the option only in specific Shopify markets. Leave blank to show it in all storefront markets.
- POS locations — when POS is selected, you can show the option only at specific POS locations. Leave blank to show it at all locations.
Limits and scheduling
The Limits + Scheduling section controls how often and when the option can be redeemed:
- How many times each customer can redeem the reward? — a cap per customer.
- How many times the reward can be redeemed in total? — a cap across all customers. Once it's reached, no one can redeem the option anymore.
For both limits, choose Unlimited, Only a few times in total, Few times per day, Few times per week, Few times per month, or Custom for your own period.
Scheduling works the same way as for rewards:
- Start date — Available for redemption immediately, or Set start date to pick a date and time.
- End date — Available forever, or Set end date.
Manage your redemption options
The Redemption rules settings section on the Loyalty page lists every option with its reward, its price, and where it's available. From the list you can:
- Click Edit to open an option and change it.
- Drag an option by its handle to reorder the list.
- Click the trash button to delete an option.
If an option's schedule hasn't started yet or has already ended, an orange indicator appears next to it in the list.
Save your changes on the Loyalty page after reordering or deleting.
