Gift card products
A gift card product lets customers buy a digital gift card from your store like any other product. You set the amounts, and Toki creates and manages a matching product in your Shopify catalog — one variant per amount. When a customer buys one, the gift card is delivered by email.
Create a gift card product
- Open Loyalty.
- Scroll to the Gift Card Products section.
- Click Add new gift card product.
- Enter a Name. This is the product title customers see.
- Add a Description if you want one.
- Upload a Product Image (JPG, PNG, or GIF, under 1MB). The image also appears in the wallet.
- Under Price Options, enter the amounts customers can choose from. Click Add Price Option for each extra amount. Every amount must be greater than 0, and you need at least one.
- Set the Status, Delivery Provider, and Fulfillment options (see the table below).
- Click Save.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The product title. Required. |
| Description | The product description shown on the product page. |
| Product Image | The product photo. Also shown in the wallet. |
| Sync product details with Shopify | When on, the name, description, and image overwrite the values in Shopify every time you save. When off, edit those three fields directly in Shopify — Toki still manages the amounts and status. |
| Price Options | The amounts customers can pick from. Each one becomes a variant of the Shopify product. |
| Status | Active makes the product available in your store. Draft hides it. This matches the product status in Shopify. |
| Delivery Provider | Toki sends the gift card by email using Toki's email service. External sends events to your connected email service (for example, Klaviyo), which you then set up to send the emails. |
| Fulfillment | When on (the default), the order's fulfillment status is set to "fulfilled" automatically after the payment is processed. |
How the Shopify product works
When you save, Toki creates or updates a product in your Shopify catalog:
- The product type is Gift Card and the vendor is Toki, so it's easy to find in your Shopify admin.
- Each price option becomes a variant under an option called Amount, labeled with the amount in your store currency.
- Variants are not taxable, don't require shipping, and don't track inventory — there's nothing to stock.
- When you add, change, or remove price options, Toki updates the Shopify variants to match. Removing a price option removes its variant.
If Toki is connected to more than one of your stores, the gift card product is created and kept up to date in each of them.
On the edit page, the Product Information card shows the Product ID for the store you're currently viewing — click it to open the product in your Shopify admin. Each price option also shows its Variant ID, which you can click to copy.
What customers get
Customers pick an amount and buy the gift card from your store. They can send it to themselves or to someone else, include a personal message, and schedule the delivery for a future date. The recipient receives an email with the gift card code and joins your loyalty program automatically.
Track gift cards sold from a product
The edit page shows a Gift Cards table with every gift card issued from this product. You can search by code, email, or order number, and use the row actions to Update balance, Manage delivery, or view Usages.
Edit or delete a gift card product
- Open Loyalty and scroll to Gift Card Products.
- Click Edit next to the product.
- Make your changes and click Save — or click Delete and confirm.
Deleting removes the gift card product from Toki and sets the matching Shopify product to draft, so customers can no longer buy it. The product itself stays in your Shopify admin. Deleting cannot be undone, so double-check before you confirm.
