Review and survey apps
If your reviews or post-purchase surveys live in another app, Toki can still reward the customers who write them. Judge.me connects to Toki directly. Loox, Okendo, Reviews.io, Stamped, Yotpo, and Fairing connect through Shopify Flow: the other app's trigger starts a workflow, and Toki's Complete Activity action grants the reward.
This article is about rewarding reviews collected in other apps. Toki's own review tool is covered under Review groups, and moving your existing reviews into Toki under Import reviews.
How each app connects
| App | How it connects | What you set up |
|---|---|---|
| Judge.me | Directly. You paste your Judge.me API key on the Integrations page. | A Judge.me: Write a review reward. Toki completes it each time a review is created in Judge.me. |
| Loox | Shopify Flow | A Loox Reviews reward, plus a workflow that starts with Loox's New review trigger. |
| Okendo | Shopify Flow | An Okendo reward, plus a workflow that starts with the Okendo Review Created trigger. |
| Reviews.io | Shopify Flow | A Reviews.io reward, plus a workflow that starts with a REVIEWS.io trigger such as New REVIEWS.io Product Review. |
| Stamped | Shopify Flow | A Stamped reward, plus a workflow that starts with Stamped's New Reviews trigger. |
| Yotpo | Shopify Flow | A Yotpo reward, plus a workflow that starts with the New Yotpo review or Yotpo review updated trigger. |
| Fairing | Shopify Flow | A Fairing reward (in the Surveys group), plus a workflow that starts with Fairing's survey trigger. |
In every case, what the customer earns — points, store credit, a discount — is set in Toki, on the reward page. The other app only tells Toki who wrote the review. Toki decides what they get.
Judge.me
Connect Judge.me
- In Judge.me, open Settings, then Integrations, then Developers, and copy your private API token from the Judge.me API section. Judge.me calls it the api_token.
- In Toki, open Integrations.
- Find Judge.me and click Install.
- Paste the token into API Key and click Save.
Use the token from the Judge.me account that belongs to this same Shopify store. When you save, Toki asks Judge.me to send it every new review. If Judge.me doesn't accept the key, Toki shows Judge.me's message on the page and keeps nothing, so you can check the key and try again.
Once connected, the Judge.me row shows the Installed badge. Click Manage to replace the key, or Uninstall to disconnect. After you uninstall, Toki stops completing Judge.me review rewards.
Create the Judge.me reward
- Open Loyalty.
- In Ways to Earn, click Add new activity.
- In the Reviews group, choose Judge.me: Write a review. Until Judge.me is connected, this entry shows an Install integration link instead — connect it first.
- In the Reward card, set what the customer earns.
- In the Rules card, fill in External URL: the page where customers write their review. The wallet's Complete button opens it.
- In the Approval card, leave Automatically approve the activity on to reward customers as soon as the review arrives, or turn it off to look at each review first.
- Set Status to Active and click Save.
Limits, Scheduling, and Reward Rules work as for any other reward. See Create and manage rewards.
What happens when a review is created
- Judge.me tells Toki about the new review.
- Toki finds the reviewer by the email address Judge.me has for them. If they aren't a member yet, Toki adds them to your program with their name and email.
- Toki completes every active Judge.me: Write a review reward for that member, applying the reward's Limits and Scheduling as usual.
- The completion is approved right away, or waits in your approvals queue if you turned automatic approval off.
Toki rewards a review as soon as Judge.me reports it, whatever its star rating and whether or not it's published in Judge.me. Toki's own Write a review reward works differently: customers earn it when their review is approved. To check each Judge.me review before the customer is rewarded, turn off Automatically approve the activity.
Toki keeps the review with the completion. In Approve Details, the review's title, text, and photos appear under Review details, so you can read the review before approving it. The same details show in the Activity Details column of the member's Recent activities table, and the table's export includes Review ID, Review Title, and Review Body columns. See Reward approvals and Member profile.
Loox, Okendo, Reviews.io, Stamped, Yotpo, and Fairing
These apps have nothing to configure in Toki: the Integrations page lists them as Installed. The setup lives in two places — a reward in Toki and a workflow in Shopify Flow. Create the reward first, because the workflow needs its ID.
Shopify Flow is Shopify's own automation app. New to it? Start with Shopify's Flow guide.
Create the reward in Toki
- Open Loyalty.
- In Ways to Earn, click Add new activity.
- Pick the type that matches your app. Review apps are in the Reviews group: Loox Reviews, Okendo, Reviews.io, Stamped, and Yotpo. Fairing is in the Surveys group. All of them carry the subtitle Powered by Shopify Flow.
- In the Reward card, set what the customer earns.
- In the Rules card, fill in External URL if you want the wallet's Complete button to take customers somewhere, such as the page where they write a review. Leave it empty to show no button.
- Set Approval, Limits, and Scheduling the way you want them.
- Set Status to Active and click Save.
The type is a label for your catalog and the wallet. Any of these types — and a Custom activity — can be completed by any Shopify Flow trigger, so you can reward reviews or surveys from an app that isn't in the list too.
Copy the reward's ID
With the reward saved and open on screen, look at your browser's address bar. The address ends with the reward's ID: a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes. Copy it.
The Shopify Flow action needs this ID. The Alias in the reward's Integrations card is for other integrations.
Build the workflow in Shopify Flow
- In your Shopify admin, open Shopify Flow and create a new workflow.
- Add the trigger from your review or survey app (see the table below).
- Add conditions if you want. For example, Yotpo lets you check whether a review is published or what its star rating is.
- Add an action and choose Complete Activity from Toki Loyalty.
- Paste the reward's ID into Activity ID.
- In Email, insert the reviewer's email address from the trigger. If your trigger gives you the Shopify customer instead, use Customer ID.
- Turn the workflow on.
Action fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Activity ID | The ID of the Toki reward to complete. Required. |
| Customer ID | The Shopify customer who wrote the review. The field shows gid://shopify/Customer/12345 as an example. |
The reviewer's email address. The field shows {{email}} as an example. One email address only. |
Fill in Email or Customer ID — at least one is needed. If you fill in both, Toki looks up the customer by Customer ID. With Customer ID, Toki matches the member to that Shopify customer, and someone new to your program is added with the name and email address from their Shopify customer record. With Email, Toki matches the member by email address, and someone new is added with just that email address. Review triggers usually give you the reviewer's email, so Email is the field you'll fill in most of the time.
There's no reward amount to fill in here. The customer earns whatever the reward's Reward card says.
Triggers by app
| App | Trigger in Shopify Flow | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Loox | New review | In Loox, open Settings, then Integrations, go to Shopify Flow, click Manage, and switch New review trigger on. The trigger includes the reviewer's Email. Loox offers it on its Convert plan and above. |
| Okendo | Okendo Review Created | In Flow, click Add trigger and search for "Okendo". |
| Reviews.io | New REVIEWS.io Product Review | Reviews.io also has triggers for company reviews, for positive or negative reviews only, and for reviews with images or videos. |
| Stamped | New Reviews (under Product Reviews Addon) | In Stamped, open Settings, then Apps, then Shopify flow, and click Install App. The trigger fires for verified reviews only — reviews tied to an actual order in your store. |
| Yotpo | New Yotpo review when a review is created, or Yotpo review updated when a moderator updates it. Yotpo's own guide calls these Review created and Review updated. | To reward published reviews only, start from Yotpo review updated and add Yotpo's Published condition. |
| Fairing | Fairing's trigger for new survey responses: pick Fairing as the trigger app. | Fill Email or Customer ID from the respondent details the trigger provides. |
What happens when the workflow runs
- Toki finds the customer by Customer ID or Email. If they aren't in your loyalty program yet, Toki adds them.
- Toki finds the reward by Activity ID. The reward has to be Active and one of the types above (or Custom). A reward in Draft stays untouched.
- Toki completes the reward, applying its Limits and Scheduling. If the customer has already reached the limit, Toki skips this completion; the workflow run in Shopify Flow still finishes normally.
- The completion is approved right away, or waits in your approvals queue if you turned Automatically approve the activity off.
What customers see
In the wallet, these rewards look like any other activity. When External URL is filled in, the activity shows a Complete button that opens that link in a new tab. When it's empty, there is no button. The button only opens the page: the reward lands once Judge.me or Shopify Flow reports the review to Toki. If automatic approval is off, the activity page also tells the customer: "This activity is manually approved so it might take up to 24 hours for the credits to hit your wallet".
