Pass fields
A wallet pass has three slots on its front for live loyalty data: one in the header and two below the card body. You pick what each slot shows from the same list of options, and Toki keeps the values current on the customer's phone as they earn, spend, and renew. The back of the card takes as many fixed fields as you like — program terms, a support email, a link to your store.
Where the fields sit
| Field | Section in the editor | Where it appears on the pass |
|---|---|---|
| Header type | Card Header | The top of the card. |
| Secondary Field 1 | Secondary Field | Below the card body, on the left. |
| Secondary Field 2 | Secondary Field | Below the card body, on the right. |
| Back Fields | Back Fields | The back of the card. |
The preview on the right of the editor shows exactly where each slot lands. On the Apple tab, the back of the card is shown below the front.
Choose what a field shows
- Open Wallet Passes. Click New for a new pass, or Edit on an existing one.
- In Card Header, pick a Header type.
- In Secondary Field, pick Secondary Field 1 and Secondary Field 2.
- Click Save in the bar at the top.
All three slots share the same options. Each option shows a short label above a value, and the value is different for every customer.
| Option | What the customer sees |
|---|---|
| None | Nothing. The slot stays empty. |
| Store Credit (Show the balance in store credits) | BALANCE and the customer's balance in your store credit, for example "1200 Points". |
| USD (Show the balance in USD) — shows your own currency code | BALANCE and the same balance converted to your store currency, for example "$12.00 USD". |
| Referral | The customer's refer-a-friend offer: what a friend gets and what the customer gets, for example "GIVE $5 OFF" over "GET $5 OFF". See The Referral field. |
| Member Number | MEMBER # and the customer's Shopify customer number. |
| Member Name | MEMBER NAME and the customer's name. |
| Member Since | MEMBER SINCE and the date the customer joined your program. |
| Points Expiry | EXPIRES ON followed by the date, and the number of points due to expire on that date, for example "500 Points". |
| Paid Membership Expiry Date | EXPIRES and the date the customer's active paid membership ends. |
| Paid Membership Name and Period | The name of the customer's paid membership and its billing period, for example "Gold" over "Monthly". |
| Membership | MEMBERSHIP and the name of the customer's membership tier. This option is listed once the pass's Membership is set to a tier. |
| Custom | Fixed text you type in. See Custom fields. |
A slot only shows data the customer actually has. For example, Points Expiry stays blank until the customer holds points with an expiry date, and Paid Membership Expiry Date stays blank until the customer has a paid membership with an end date.
Points Expiry always reads your default store credit.
Balance fields with more than one store credit
If you run more than one store credit, a Store credit dropdown appears under every slot set to Store Credit or your currency. Pick the balance that slot should show. Leave it on Default store credit to show your default balance.
Each slot has its own dropdown, so one pass can show two different balances side by side.
The Referral field
Set a slot to Referral and the pass shows the customer's refer-a-friend offer as two lines:
| Line | What it shows | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Label (top) | What a referred friend gets | "GIVE $5 OFF", "GIVE 10% OFF", "BUY X, GET Y" |
| Value (bottom) | What the customer gets for referring | "GET $5 OFF", "GET 500 Points", "GET 10% OFF" |
When the customer's reward is store credit, the field shows it in points if your store credit's Rewards preference is the credit name, and in your store currency otherwise.
As soon as any slot — or the QR code — uses Referral, a Referral Activity dropdown appears in the QR Code section. Pick the refer-a-friend activity the pass should use. The field shows the offer from that activity.
Custom fields
Choose Custom in any slot and two text boxes appear next to it: Label and Value. Type what you want the pass to say, for example "MEMBER OF" and "The Inner Circle". The text appears exactly as you type it, and it is the same on every customer's pass.
Each slot keeps its own custom text, so the header and both secondary fields can each carry a different message.
Date format
The Date Format box in the Secondary Field section controls how dates
are written in Member Since, Points Expiry, and
Paid Membership Expiry Date, whichever slot they sit in. Leave it empty
to use yyyy.MM.dd, for example "2025.01.31".
Build your own format from these pieces. Capitalization matters: MM is the
month, mm is minutes.
| Piece | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
yyyy | Four-digit year | 2025 |
MM | Month, two digits | 01 |
MMM | Month, short name | Jan |
dd | Day, two digits | 05 |
d | Day, no leading zero | 5 |
Some ready-made formats:
| Format | Result |
|---|---|
yyyy.MM.dd | 2025.01.31 |
MM/dd/yyyy | 01/31/2025 |
dd MMM yyyy | 31 Jan 2025 |
MMM d, yyyy | Jan 31, 2025 |
Back fields
Back fields are fixed text on the back of the card. Use them for the things that don't change per customer: how the program works, your support email, opening hours, or a link to your store.
- In the Back Fields section, click Add Field. The new field appears as Back Field 1, Back Field 2, and so on.
- Choose the Type:
- Text — a label with plain text under it.
- Link — a label with tappable text that opens a web page.
- Enter the Label and the Value. For a Link, also enter the URL the customer lands on. The Value is the text they tap.
- Click Save in the bar at the top.
Add as many back fields as you need. To remove one, click the trash icon next to its heading.
