Shopify Sidekick

Sidekick is Shopify's AI assistant in the Shopify admin. Toki connects to it, so you can set up parts of your loyalty program by describing what you want in a sentence. Sidekick opens the same Toki editors you already use, fills in the setup it understood from your request, and leaves the final Save to you.

What you can ask Sidekick to do

Ask Sidekick to…What happens
Create or edit a rewardSidekick opens Toki's reward editor with the activity type chosen and the fields filled in from your request. You review and save.
Create or edit a segmentSidekick opens the Create Segment or Edit Segment page with the conditions filled in. You review and save.
Create or edit a custom blockSidekick opens the Custom module editor (Your Custom Block) and writes or changes the code in the HTML / Liquid and JavaScript fields. You review and save.
Answer questions about your programSidekick reads your program setup and answers.
Open a Toki pageSidekick takes you to the page you asked for.

Example prompts:

  • "Create a double-points activity for Black Friday weekend"
  • "Make a segment of customers who spent over $500 this year"
  • "How many active paid members do I have?"
  • "Take me to the Reviews page"

How Sidekick creates and edits things in Toki

When you ask Sidekick to create or change something, the work happens in front of you:

  1. Sidekick opens the matching Toki editor inside the Shopify admin: the reward editor, the segment editor, or the Custom module editor.
  2. It fills in the fields from your request. When you edit an existing reward, segment, or custom block, the editor opens with that item's current settings loaded.
  3. You check the result and change anything you like, exactly as if you had opened the editor yourself.
  4. Click Save. Nothing is saved until you do.

Because Sidekick works through the same editors, the same rules apply. Required fields, limits, and checks are identical to the portal, so Sidekick can't create something the editor wouldn't let you create.

Once saved, the item appears in Toki like any other: rewards under Loyalty in the Ways to Earn section, segments on the Segments page, and custom blocks in Design.

Rewards

Sidekick can start a reward from any activity type in Toki's catalog, such as purchases, referrals, or reviews. The editor opens with the title New reward for a new reward, or with the reward's name when you edit an existing one. Every field works the same as described in Create and manage rewards.

Segments

Segments that Sidekick builds use the same conditions as segments you create by hand, and they show up on the Segments page next to the rest. See Segments and Segment conditions.

Custom blocks

Sidekick can start a new custom block or open an existing one, and it can write the HTML / Liquid and JavaScript fields for you. The editor opens in the same language as the design editor preview; see Languages. After you save, preview, publish, and install the block as usual; see Custom block.
