Store credits
A store credit is the currency customers earn and spend in your rewards program — for most stores it's simply called "Points". From one page you control its name, how amounts are shown to customers, and how many credits equal one unit of your store currency. You can also run more than one store credit at the same time.
Find your store credits
- In the merchant portal, open Loyalty.
- In the Points section, click Manage store credits.
Each store credit appears as its own card. Make your changes, then click Save in the bar at the top. Discard reverts everything back.
Name and display
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Store credit name | What customers see, e.g. "Points", "Coins", "Stars". |
| Rewards preference | How amounts are displayed to customers: the credit name, your store currency, or both — e.g. "200 Points ($2 USD)". |
Conversion rate
The Conversion rate section sets how many credits equal 1 unit of your store currency, for all customers or for specific segments. The rate applies throughout your program — earning, redeeming, analytics, and balance displays all reflect it.
The first rule is your default: it applies to All customers and always stays in place. To give certain customers a better deal:
- Click Add conversion rule.
- Enter the Rate — how many credits equal 1 unit of your currency.
- Pick a Segment the rate applies to.
For example: everyone gets 100 points = $1, while your VIP segment gets 80 points = $1 — making their points 25% more valuable.
Rates must be greater than zero. You can drag segment rules to reorder them and remove any of them; the default rule stays put.
Custom number formatting
Check Enable custom currency formatting on a store credit's card to fine-tune how amounts are written out.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Minimum fraction digits | The fewest decimal places to display. |
| Strip trailing zeros for whole amounts | Shows whole amounts without decimals. |
| Round to conversion rate | Rounds currency values to the precision your conversion rate allows. |
| Use a custom template | Write your own Singular template and Plural template, using {{amount}} where the number should go. |
| Locale | The regional format for numbers, for example en-US or fr-FR. |
If the locale you enter isn't valid, the page asks you to correct it before saving.
Run more than one store credit
Click Add store credit at the top of the page to create another currency. New store credits start with a rate of 100, display set to both, and formatting off — adjust them before you save. Your program always keeps at least one store credit; the Remove button appears on a card once you have more than one, and the removal takes effect when you save.
Each saved store credit shows its Store credit ID under its name — click it to copy. Keep it handy if you chat with us about a custom setup.
