Give customers a game worth playing

Challenges, leaderboards, spin-the-wheel and prize draws that reward customers between orders — with progress shown right in the wallet they already use.

On every plan — some parts need a paid plan →

A points program that only pays at checkout is a vending machine: money in, discount out, nothing in between. The weeks between orders are where loyalty is actually built — or lost. Toki's gamification layer gives customers things to do in those weeks, and pays them in the same points, credit and perks as the rest of your program.

Challenges with a finish line

A challenge bundles several activities behind one prize — "follow us, leave a review, share a purchase" — and Toki tracks every step:

  • Three ways to complete — each activity separately, any activities adding up to a total, or activities in a set order
  • Journeys in sequence — create account → complete profile → first purchase → review, where later steps only count in their turn
  • Time windows — completions only count inside a period, for "within 7 days of joining" mechanics
  • Progress customers can see — the Challenge Progress block shows punch cards with stamps or a progress bar in the wallet, with buttons to complete the next step, and wallet passes reflect it too

Sequential challenges make a natural onboarding path: they teach new members how your program works and reward each step.

GardenCup turns repeat orders into milestones — "Crush 5 Orders", "Crush 10 Orders", "Crush 20 Orders" — and its challenges have tens of thousands of completions. GardenCup members average 5.36 orders against 1.60 for non-members.

Quizzes and polls between orders

Quizzes, polls and surveys pay points too, and a scored quiz makes a good challenge step. Each answer also lands on the customer's profile, ready for segments and your email tools — they have their own page: quizzes & surveys.

Leaderboards, wheels and prize draws

  • Leaderboards — rank members, with profile pictures and each member's tier, filtered to the segments you choose
  • Spin the wheel — a prize mechanic customers come back for
  • Lottery entries — customers collect tickets toward a draw, and workflows can hand out tickets as rewards
  • Social and QR actions — follows, likes and shares across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and more, or a QR code on your packaging or in your store

Run it on a schedule

Games need seasons. Timers fire once or on a repeating interval, and with the Change Activity Status workflow action they switch activities on and off for you — a double-points weekend every Friday at 6pm, a flash challenge weeks in advance. Announce it with a scheduled campaign by wallet push, email or wallet notification.

For the strategy side — which mechanics work, and how not to train customers to wait for bonuses — read our guide to gamified loyalty programs. Then build the engine underneath with points and VIP tiers.

Many activity types run on every plan, including Free; quizzes, polls and scheduling with workflows need a paid plan — see pricing. Install Toki free and launch your first challenge this week.

Frequently asked questions

What gamification features does Toki have?

Challenges that combine several activities into one prize, leaderboards, spin-the-wheel, lottery entries, photo submissions, social actions and QR-code scans, plus quizzes and polls — and punch cards on wallet passes. Every one of them pays out through the same points engine as the rest of your program.

How do challenges work?

A challenge bundles activities behind one reward. Choose how it completes: each activity separately, any activities adding up to a total, or activities in a set order. Add a time window for 'within 7 days of joining' mechanics, and show progress in the wallet as a punch card or a progress bar.

Can I show customers a leaderboard?

Yes. The Leaderboard block ranks members, optionally with profile pictures and each member's current tier, and can be filtered to one or more segments — a board for your VIP tier only, for example.

Can I run double-points weekends?

Yes. Pair a timer with the Change Activity Status workflow action to switch a bonus activity on every Friday at 6pm and off on Sunday night, and announce it with a scheduled campaign. Workflows come with paid plans.

Is gamification on the free plan?

Many activity types run on the Free plan. Quizzes and polls need a paid plan, and so does scheduling with workflows — the activity catalog marks every type that needs one and links to billing.
