The Challenge

In fact, referrals are core to her business. Dentists suggest her product to their patients which drives sales. Which is exactly why Dr. Jen's partnered with Toki for their conference circuit activations. With the conference season coming up, Dr. Jen's team needed a way to convert passing conversations into referral partners.

The Solution

To do so, Dr. Jen's would need to use incentives to convert more dentists to fans and motivate to spread the word about the brand. They kicked off this conference activation by placing QR codes at their booth incentivizing attendees to scan the codes and get signed up for their loyalty program.

Sign up was simply done through passwordless login on mobile. This creates an account with sent customer contact info directly to Klaviyo for follow up post conference. The newly loyalty affiliate was then prompted to download the Apple wallet card. If they downloaded the Apple wallet card, they would get rewarded!

Incentivizing sign up with a "Featured Activity" is a motivating way to drive more sign ups.

Prepping for push notifications

The Apple wallet card has each referrers' unique referral code on it. So when a dentist is in their office on Monday, they can pull out their pass to show their clients what they recommend for their teeth. That client can then scan the code and automatically have the referral discount code attached to their cart. This is a much more seamless referral experience than the usual shared referral link!

Apple Wallet passes also enable push notifications - a great way for Dr. Jen to keep up with her referrers who aren't as easily accessible through email.

Rewarding with cold, hard cash

The most pivotal part of the Dr. Jen's referral incentive plan is that it is implemented with cash payments! Instead of rewarding referrers with store credit, Dr. Jen's uses the Toki Cash product to allow their customers to be rewarded with cash they can move to their bank account instantaneously!

Cash incentives are proven to be much more effective and activating than store credit (or points).

The Results

As a result, Dr. Jen's saw hundreds and hundreds to sign ups and downloads during the conference. After the conference they were able to regularly drop rewards and promotions to their referral partners in order to activate them to bring in net new customers. This facilitated an entire organic affiliate channel for the Dr. Jen's brand resulting in ongoing referral revenue and ancillary net new customers.
